Three patients with the novel coronavirus are being treated at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg
Since Thursday, February 27, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg has been treating three patients who have been confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus.
(As of 27.02.2020) The patients have been admitted to the Medical Center - University of Freiburg and are being isolated and treated in accordance with the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The three patients have mild flu-like symptoms and are not in a critical condition. The three patients are all from the Freiburg area.
The Medical Center - University of Freiburg is in close contact with the health authorities and ministries. The staff at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is very well trained in dealing with patients with communicable diseases. The exact handling of people infected with the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) was defined in detail several weeks ago.
Preparations at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg
The Medical Center - University of Freiburg is well prepared to identify, isolate and treat Covid-19 patients, even those with severe symptoms. Sick people can be isolated and treated on a specially equipped ward. In addition, a separate area is currently being created where people suspected of being infected can be isolated until the test results are available. The area is structurally separated from the central building of the University Hospital. Employees (physicians, nursing care, housekeeping, transport service) are continuously trained in the use of personal protective equipment.

People who have been in a risk area or people who have had contact with a person infected with 2019-nCoV and develop symptoms such as fever or respiratory problems within 14 days should contact the responsible health authority or their family doctor to determine how to proceed.
