During the summer vacations, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg offers ice cream for all blood donors on Wednesdays and Thursdays

Once again this year, the Blood Donation Center at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg has a thank-you gift for summer donors. Every Wednesday and Thursday during the school vacations, all donors will receive an ice cream after their good deed. "The ice cream campaign at the blood donation center is popular, tried and tested and can fortunately be offered again this summer," explains Dr. Markus Umhau, Medical Director of the blood donation center. "The ice cream is individually wrapped so that we can comply with hygiene rules and still give our loyal donors this nice surprise." The campaign runs from Thursday, July 30 to Thursday, September 10, 2020.

Blood donations are also needed during the summer vacations

Despite coronavirus, the number of donations has been at a good average level in recent months. During the summer vacations, however, the blood depot threatens to shrink. "We are asking everyone who has some time in August and September: Come and donate blood. We need you!" says Umhau. "Anyone who has already donated with us can make an appointment via the website. This saves time, ensures regulated processes and makes it easier to comply with social distancing rules." First-time donors can shorten their stay by watching the necessary educational film at home. The donation questionnaire can also be completed at home.

An identity card and, if possible, a vaccination certificate are required for every blood donation. Donors must be between 18 and 68 years old (first-time donors up to 60 years old). Men can donate blood every 8 weeks, women every 12 weeks.

Wednesday and Thursday | 12 pm to 7 pm
Friday and Saturday | 8 am to 1 pm
