Art therapy for oncology patients honored with donation
The Freiburg branch of Charles River Laboratories supports the art therapy of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg - CCCF at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg with around 6,000 euros
Art therapy can be a low-threshold therapy option for patients with cancer. With a donation of 5,950 euros, the Freiburg site of Charles River Laboratories is supporting the art therapy of the Psychosocial Cancer Counseling of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg - CCCF at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. At the end of September, Jana Rühlemann and Stephen Holland from Charles River Laboratories, Freiburg site, presented a symbolic cheque to Teresa Burger, art therapist at the Psychosocial Cancer Counseling Service. One of the reasons for the generous donation was that an employee was personally affected.
Art therapy has been part of the psychosocial cancer counseling services offered by the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg - CCCF for more than ten years. Art therapy supports the processing of cancer and its consequences in a creative way. The method makes it possible to establish contact with one's own inner world. The awareness of one's own needs and wishes is strengthened and the confidence to be able to influence one's own world is reinforced.
