Colorful donation for "Deaf children learn to hear"
Inner Wheel Club Freiburg supports the Association for the Promotion of the Implant Center Freiburg at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg with 8,000 euros
Numbers decorated with fabric flowers instead of a symbolic check: The Inner Wheel Club Freiburg donated 8,000 euros to the Förderverein "Taube Kinder lernen hören" e.V. Prof. em. Dr. Dr. h.c. Roland Laszig accepted the generous donation from Inge Deeg of the Inner Wheel Club Freiburg on Monday, July 19, 2021. Deeg had organized the Inner Wheel Club's rose distribution campaign in March 2021, which raised a large part of the donation.
The colorful numbers were presented by the young patients of the Implant Center Freiburg, in whose garden the donation was handed over. The association "Deaf children learn to hear" has been supporting the treatment of deaf children at the Implant Centrum Freiburg, a Department of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, for more than 25 years. Deaf children and children and adults with profound hearing loss who are learning to hear with the help of cochlear implants receive medical and therapeutic care there. The implants convert acoustic signals into electrical impulses and transmit them to the auditory nerve. In addition to the initial fitting, the experts at the Implant Centrum Freiburg also regularly check and adjust the implants and provide ENT, psychological and speech therapy advice.
"We are very grateful for the generous commitment of our donors. It is only with their support that we will be able to enable deaf children to hear and speak in the future," says Laszig, Chairman of the association.
