Deposit vouchers for a good cause
Edeka Barwig donated 3,750 euros to the Freiburg association to help mentally ill children and young people / The money came from a deposit voucher campaign
Providing targeted support for mentally ill children and young people: With this aim in mind, Edeka Barwig has donated 3,750 euros to the Freiburg Association for the Help of Mentally Ill Children and Adolescents. The symbolic cheque was handed over at the beginning of August in the garden of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
The Barwig Edeka stores in Freiburg and the surrounding area ran a deposit voucher campaign for three months. Customers were able to donate the amount of their deposit receipts. "Thanks in part to donations like these, our association now supports a large number of projects in the outpatient and inpatient sectors that would otherwise have no chance of being realized. We have had a special bond with the Medical Center - University of Freiburg since the association was founded," said Dr. Martin Sieber, a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy and chairman of the Freiburg Association to Help Mentally Ill Children and Adolescents.
Among other things, the association uses the donations to support services for young patients at the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics for Children and Adolescents at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg and provides unbureaucratic help when useful measures cannot be covered by health insurance or the youth welfare office. "We are observing a significant increase in mental illness in children and adolescents due to the corona pandemic and the resulting stress for adolescents, often accompanied by outpatient and inpatient emergency care," says Dr. Madeleine Zimmermann, Senior Physician in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg and member of the Board of Directors of the support association. "We are pleased that the needs of these children and young people are not being lost sight of."
