Supervisory Board under new management

Dr. Carsten Dose becomes new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg

Minister of Science Theresia Bauer has appointed Dr. Carsten Dose to represent the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts on the Supervisory Board of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg; this also entails the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board. On February 1, 2022, the 54-year-old will succeed Ministerial Director Clemens Benz, who has held the position since 2011 and is now taking over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Heidelberg University Hospital.

In the Ministry of Science, Dr. Carsten Dose heads the Department of University Medicine. "I am looking forward to my new duties as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg," says Dr. Dose. "The topics of digitalization, implementation of the construction master plan and the financing of university medicine will be the focus of the joint work of the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board in the coming years."

Before joining the Ministry of Science, Dr. Dose worked for several years as Managing Director of the FRIAS - Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies - at the University of Freiburg and is therefore very familiar with the scientific landscape in Freiburg.
