Study examines the digital competence of German hospitals / Medical Center - University of Freiburg is the best digitized university hospital alongside Berlin's Charité and the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein

The Medical Center - University of Freiburg occupies a leading position in terms of digitalization in the healthcare sector. This is the result of the corporate study "Digital Champions 2022 - Companies with a Future" conducted by the Institute for Management and Economic Research with the support of the Hamburg Institute of International Economics. According to the study, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is one of the three best digitized university hospitals in Germany, along with Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein.

According to the publishers, the study was based on data from around 12,500 companies across Germany. By evaluating around 438 million Internet data (social crawling) and an extensive questionnaire, these were analysed with regard to the parameters of digitalization, technology and innovation, each of which was included in the evaluation in thirds. Among other things, it was determined whether clinics were fully prepared for the entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation or which digitalization projects had already been implemented.

Electronic patient files, telemedicine, the use of artificial intelligence and real-time quality management are examples of how we are actively shaping the digital transformation of the healthcare system for the benefit of patients.
