Medical Center - University of Freiburg celebrates 2,000th birth
In November 2022, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is already looking forward to the 2,000th birth this year
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg celebrated its 2,000th birth this year in November. Little Levi saw the light of day on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 6:13 a.m. weighing 3,785 grams and measuring 50 centimetres. This means that the strong birth figures from last year are continuing. There is a good chance that this year will see a similar level of births as in 2021, when there were 2,172 births at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
Highest quality of care for newborns
"The whole team was thrilled and we are very happy about the birth of little Levi," says Prof. Dr. Ingolf Juhasz-Böss, Medical Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. "Today, giving birth is safer than ever before. This is also due to the fact that the various professional groups and specialist areas work so closely together."
Five to six births take place at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology every day. One in five births today is considered a high-risk or premature birth. In these cases, the Department of Obstetrics and Perinatology works closely with the Neonatology Department of the Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. Together they meet the requirements of a perinatal center, which has been certified by the Medical Association with the highest quality level (Level 1) in the care of newborns. "We offer the necessary support for mothers and children during this special event. In addition to first-class medical care, this also includes a trusting and family-friendly atmosphere," says Juhasz-Böss.
