Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz remains in office until the end of 2028

The Supervisory Board of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg has extended the term of office of Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz as Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg until the end of 2028. He has held the position since January 2019.

"Prof. Wenz has a clear vision for the development of the University Medical Center, and I am delighted that we can continue to pursue the strategy we have embarked on together," says Supervisory Board Chairman Dr. Carsten Dose. "The Supervisory Board has great confidence in Prof. Wenz. Individualized cutting-edge medicine, scientific excellence, the opportunities of digitalization, sustainability and a clear focus on the employees are the topics with which Prof. Wenz's work is particularly associated."

Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz is a habilitated radiation oncologist (radiotherapist). He studied medicine in Heidelberg, Great Britain and the USA and completed his doctorate at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. After a fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Boston (USA), he established the Clinic for Radiotherapy and Radiation Oncology at the University Medical Center Mannheim as Medical Director from 2000 and held the position of Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Medicine in Mannheim. From 2014 to the end of 2018, he was Medical Director and Managing Director of the University Medical Center Mannheim.
