Blood Donation Center of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg gives away T-shirts and baseball caps to donors / Social media campaign on 14 June

Every year, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg needs more than 30,000 blood donations to ensure a reliable supply. Blood products are mainly used in accidents and operations, but also in cancer treatment. "Especially in the summer months, supplying blood to patients is a particular challenge," says Prof. Dr. Richard Schäfer, Senior Physician at the Institute of Transfusional Medicine and Genetherapy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, and calls on people to get involved on World Blood Donor Day: "Wear red on June 14! Together we can make even more people aware of blood donation and provide our patients with vital blood products."

Donate blood and wear red together

From Thursday, June 1, 2023 to Wednesday, June 14, 2023, red T-shirts and baseball caps will be given away to all donors at the blood donation center. In addition, a team from the blood donation center will also distribute red baseball caps and red bicycle saddle covers on World Blood Donor Day.

To ensure that the campaign also reaches as many people as possible digitally, the blood donation center is asking all participants to post pictures of their red outfit on social networks on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, using the hashtags #BlutspendeFreiburg #FreiburgTrägtRed.

The T-shirts and baseball caps are only available while stocks last. Companies, clubs and other groups that would like to take part in the campaign can register in advance by emailing itg.marketing@uniklinik-freiburg.de.
