Epilepsy: Tailoring treatment precisely to the respective causes

"Epilepsy has many causes and even more manifestations. That's why it's important to choose exactly the right treatment option for each patient from the many available," says Dr. Martin Hirsch, senior physician at the Epilepsy Center of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.

As a maximum care center, the Epilepsy Center offers all established examination and treatment procedures for epilepsy patients of all ages, including laser-based surgery. As a recognized reference center in Baden-Württemberg and as a European reference center of the EpiCare network, the physicians are also in contact with leading international centers for the diagnosis and treatment of complex and rare epilepsies. Children with epilepsy are also treated very competently in the section for epilepsy diagnostics in childhood and adolescence.

"The Epilepsy Center at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is currently using a variety of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, in particular laser-based operations and mobile EEG registrations over many months. We are pleased to be able to provide information on this and cordially invite you to attend," says Prof. Dr. Andreas Schulze-Bonhage, Head of the Epilepsy Center at the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
