Shortened course of study for nursing care managers / Cooperation between Medical Center - University of Freiburg and Freiburg Catholic University of Applied Sciences

Senior nursing staff can now have their advanced training as ward managers at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg credited towards the "Bachelor of Arts Management in Healthcare" course at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg, thereby shortening their studies by up to two semesters. At the same time, completion of the advanced training entitles you to study.

Studying expressly desired

"I am very pleased about the recognition, as it confirms the quality of our advanced training at university level. Thanks to the cooperation with the Catholic University of Applied Sciences, we can now support our nurses with management responsibilities in their academic development at an early stage," says Helmut Schiffer, Nursing Director of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.

Prof. Dr. PH Ulrike Thielhorn, Professor of Health and Nursing Sciences at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg, and Andreas Haussmann,Head of the Advanced Training Department at the Academy for Medical Professions at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, have aligned the content of the advanced training with that of the degree course and ensured that it can be transferred to an academic career.

Nursing managers play a key role

Modern high-performance medicine, research and teaching at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg are inextricably linked to the high-quality professional work of over 4,300 nursing staff. Nursing managers play a key role in ensuring and further developing the high level of nursing care despite the diverse and constantly changing requirements. In order to train them and recruit them for the long term, the University Hospital already offers numerous opportunities, such as a comprehensive trainee program.
