Medical Center - University of Freiburg occupies a top position in the Focus ranking / Nationwide it is in fourth place in the list of clinics, for Baden-Württemberg it leads the ranking / More than 1,600 clinics compared

The Medical Center - University of Freiburg is the best hospital in Baden-Württemberg and ranks fourth nationwide: this is the result of a ranking commissioned by Focus magazine and published on Monday, October 30, 2023 as part of the Focus Clinic List 2024. This means that the Medical Center - University of Freiburg has maintained its position from the previous year. In particular, the treatment of leukemia, strokes and lung tumors is among the best in Baden-Württemberg. "The very good ranking reflects our aspiration to provide every patient with quality-centered, cutting-edge university medicine. A central aspect of this is to consistently drive forward digitalization," says Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz, Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. "This leading position is only possible because our 15,000 employees give their best every day. My special thanks go to them."

The research includes data from all 1,643 public hospitals in Germany and the 14,447 specialist clinics affiliated with them. Information on the frequency of certain procedures, the services offered and the technical equipment was taken from the facilities' quality reports. The number of staff in relation to the number of patients and participation in quality initiatives were also taken into account. In addition to the facilities' public quality reports, extensive questionnaires were collected from the facilities. Patient satisfaction and recommendations from physicians in private practice and other hospitals were also included in the assessment.
