The Freiburg Institute for Musicians' Medicine at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg will be offering new certified advanced training in the field of musicians' medicine for the first time from March 2024

A unique advanced training opportunity - this is the Freiburg Certification Course in Musicians' Medicine, newly developed by the Freiburg Institute for Musicians' Medicine (FIM) at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg in cooperation with the Department of Advanced Training at the University of Freiburg. It is aimed at working physicians and therapists in outpatient and inpatient care with a corresponding license to practice. The first blended learning course will start in spring 2024 and applications are now open.

"The course offers all interested parties a quality-assured and unique opportunity for further training in the field of musicians' medicine," says Prof. Dr. Bernhard Richter, Head of the Freiburg Institute for Musicians' Medicine at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. "The postgraduate advanced training enables participants to make the best possible use of preventive and therapeutic measures for the treatment of musicians," adds Prof. Dr. Dr. Claudia Spahn, Head of the FIM.

With the design of the two-year further education program as a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), up to ten credit points (ECTS) can be awarded if the requirements are met. Continuing education points have also been applied for from the Baden-Württemberg State Chamber of Physicians and the Baden-Württemberg State Chamber of Psychotherapists. The certification course will take place as a blended learning format (accompanied online self-study in combination with face-to-face seminars) at the BDB Music Academy in Staufen and as a work shadowing program at the FIM in Freiburg. The Baden-Württemberg Evaluation Agency (evalag) has awarded the continuing education program a seal of quality.
