Freiburg radiotherapist appointed Senator of the Leopoldina

Prof. Dr. Anca-L. Grosu from the Medical Center - University of Freiburg will in future be the representative of the Radiology Section in the National Academy of Sciences - Leopoldina


Prof. Dr. Anca-L. Grosu was elected by the members of the Radiology Section (Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics) of the National Academy of Sciences - Leopoldina as Senator of the Section. Grosu is Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg and a member of the Faculty of Medicine - University of Freiburg. Her four-year term of office begins on January 3, 2024. The Leopoldina, one of the oldest science academies in the world, consists of 28 sections, with each section being led by a senator elected by the members.

"I am honored to represent radiology in this role and will work to promote scientific excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration," said Grosu. Grosu's appointment underscores her outstanding position in the scientific community and her commitment to the diagnostic and therapeutic radiology disciplines. As a senator, she will provide important impetus for research and practice in this field. Her expertise and commitment are of great importance for the further development of medical science.

The Leopoldina

Founded in 1652, the Leopoldina is one of the oldest scientific academies in the world. With around 1,500 members, the Leopoldina brings together outstanding scientists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and numerous other countries. As Germany's national academy, the Leopoldina has represented German science in international bodies since 2008 and takes an independent position on the scientific basis of political and social issues.
