New beginnings: stories and music for new paths
On Thursday, June 13, the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy invites you to a musical and literary journey
In search of clues through new geographical and personal territory: On Thursday, June 13 at 7 p.m. , Sylvia Oelkrug and Cordula Sauter will be performing music and stories in the Garden Hall of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. The event will take place in the Garden Hall of the new West Garden Wing of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, Hauptstraße 5 in Freiburg. Admission to the concert is free. Registration is not required.
"Through these cultural encounters, we are creating a space for dialogue with the aim of promoting understanding of mental illness and showing that healing and hope exist in many different forms," says Prof. Dr. Dr. Katharina Domschke, Medical Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. "Music and art play a key role in this."
With violin and accordion, Oelkrug and Sauter give a virtuoso performance of tango, klezmer, musette and swing manouche music in their program "Aufbrüche: Geschichten und Musik zu neuen Wegen". But the two musicians don't just let their instruments do the talking: With passion, heart and wit, they read humorous and enigmatic contemporary literature by Joachim Meyerhoff, Mely Kiyak, Saša Stanišić, Nina George and others. Music and literature combine to create a profound and entertaining program.
