On Saturday, September 21, the Center for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg opens its doors in its new clinic building / Colorful program with lectures and many activities for children

Light-flooded rooms, a sensory garden and a lively waiting area: the Center for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg invites you to an open day at Breisacher Straße 62 on Saturday, September 21, 2024. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors will get a comprehensive insight into the newly opened building and the many services offered by the Center for Pediatrics. There will be fun activities for children, such as a rally and face painting. Admission is free and registration is not necessary.

"The anticipation is great: with the new Center for Pediatrics, we offer our patients an environment that additionally supports their healing process. We can hardly wait to start our work in the new building and cordially invite everyone to take a look behind the scenes with us," says Prof. Dr. Tobias Feuchtinger, Spokesperson of the Center for Children's and Women's Medicine and Medical Director of the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.

All-round tour, lectures and children's program

On the open day, visitors will be given an insight into the child-friendly design of the outpatient clinics and the Children's Emergency Center. The normal and intensive care wards and laboratories can also be viewed. In the outdoor area of the new Center for Pediatrics there is a sensory garden and a therapy garden to marvel at.

In addition to an exhibition on the "healing architecture" of the building, visitors can look forward to an exciting lecture program on topics such as poisoning in children and a lecture especially for children on the subject of bones.

Children can take part in a rally through the building, collect clues in a snippet hunt and have their cuddly toys looked after in a small version of the popular teddy bear hospital run by the Open Medical Student Council. There will also be the opportunity for children to have their faces professionally painted and to make their own "medicines" from fruit juices in the children's pharmacy.

In addition, the parents' house built and run by the Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e.V. (Association for the Support of Children with Cancer) right next to the Center for Pediatrics will be hosting an open day on Saturday, September 21.
