Patient Day on Saturday, September 21, 2024 / Lectures on glaucoma therapy, workshops on eye health and opportunities to exchange ideas

Around one million people in Germany are affected by glaucoma. The eye disease makes it difficult to see and can even lead to blindness. As the symptoms are initially unspecific, many people are unaware of their condition for a long time. At Glaucoma Day on Saturday, September 21, 2024 , those affected and interested can find out more about the treatment of glaucoma in presentations and workshops at. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. in the Killianstrasse lecture hall (Killianstrasse 5, between the Eye and ENT Clinic and the Neurocenter) in Freiburg.

"Glaucoma is an insidious disease that often remains undetected for a long time and can progress gradually. Our aim on Glaucoma Day is to provide targeted information about the disease and bring the topic of eye health closer to interested parties," says Prof. Dr. Jan Lübke, Head of the Glaucoma Unit at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.

A day dedicated to eye health: workshops and lectures

The event offers a varied program: Lectures will cover the basics and therapeutic principles of glaucoma, and the experts* will also explain the procedures involved in surgery and shed light on the psychological effects of the disease. The lecture program will take place from 10 am to 11.45 am. Workshops will focus on topics such as nutrition and relaxation and their holistic effects on eye health. There will also be training on the correct use of eye drops. The workshops are offered in two time blocks from 1.45 pm to 2.35 pm and 2.45 pm to 3.35 pm.
