Children's Emergency Center at the new address from Saturday, 28 September 2024, outpatient clinics and wards available in the new building from Monday

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the relocation of all inpatients of the Center for Pediatrics at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg will take place. The Children's Emergency Center will already be in operation at the new address, Breisacher Str. 62 in Freiburg, from 8 a.m. on Saturday morning. At the same time, the emergency room at the old Center for Pediatrics will close. All outpatient clinics and wards will be available at the new location from Monday, September 30, 2024. The children's emergency practice of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians will remain in the previous premises of St. Josef's Hospital, Sautierstrasse 1, until October 9, 2024, before also moving into the new Center for Pediatrics at the University Medical Center.

The move - a logistical feat of strength

A total of around 70 young patients will be transferred, including more than ten children requiring intensive care. Patients for whom this is medically possible are discharged home before the weekend and readmitted as inpatients on Monday. The University Hospital is supported by the German Red Cross and the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief. In total, around 450 employees are involved in the move, particularly from medicine, nursing care, IT and logistics at the University Hospital.
