Good reasons for breastfeeding
To mark World Breastfeeding Week on September 30, experts from the Medical Center - University of Freiburg are providing information about the benefits of breastfeeding for parents and children
From September 30 to October 4, 2024, World Breastfeeding Week aims to encourage breastfeeding. That's why a designated breastfeeding expert at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is available to provide advice and support to everyone after birth. The women's milk bank at the hospital is also a valuable help in special situations. To raise awareness of breastfeeding, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is hosting a breastfeeding café and workshops on breastfeeding during World Breastfeeding Week.
"Breastfeeding not only strengthens the bond between parent and child, but also provides all the important nutrients and antibodies for the baby's immune system. In addition, prolonged breastfeeding can reduce the mother's risk of breast cancer," explains Prof. Dr. Ingolf Juhasz-Böss, Medical Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
Room for questions and exchange
Mothers will have the opportunity to talk to an experienced breastfeeding and lactation consultant in a cozy atmosphere at a breastfeeding café on Monday, September 30 from 1 pm to 3 pm . Here, questions about breastfeeding can be asked and valuable tips for everyday life can be given. The Breastfeeding Café also offers an ideal opportunity to network with other mothers and breastfeeding mothers and share experiences.
On Wednesday, October 2 and Friday, October 4 , the University Women's Hospital invites you to a breastfeeding workshop with an experienced midwife from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1 pm to 2.30 pm.
