Patient Day on Saturday, October 12 / Lectures, guided tours, information stands and workshops on breast self-examination, yoga and relaxation

Every year, around 70,000 women in Germany are diagnosed with breast cancer, the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer in women. Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October draws worldwide attention to prevention, early detection and research. This month not only serves to raise awareness, but also actively encourages people to take the necessary preventative measures. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg therefore invites those affected and interested to an information day with an extensive program on the topic of breast cancer on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology . Participation is free of charge and registration is not necessary.

"Breast cancer can affect any woman. Early detection saves lives - that's why education and prevention are so important," says Prof. Dr. Ingolf Juhasz-Böss, Medical Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Head of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg Breast Center.

Guided tours, workshops and a comprehensive range of information

Visitors to the Breast Cancer Info Day can look forward to a varied program of lectures on topics such as early detection, genetic risk factors and treatment options. The offer is complemented by practical workshops, for example on self-examination of the breast, yoga and breathing and relaxation techniques in the context of cancer therapy. There will also be guided tours of the Breast Center and information stands on health and psychosocial topics. Experts will also be available for individual discussions and advice.

With the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg - CCCF, the Center for Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer and the Breast Center Freiburg, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is a nationally renowned point of contact for the treatment of breast cancer. An interdisciplinary team of experts from gynecology, plastic surgery, radiology, pathology, medical oncology, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy work closely together on diagnostics and therapy through to long-term aftercare. Patients here also have the opportunity to benefit from innovative therapies as part of clinical studies.
