Practice of the Medical Care Center at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg secures ophthalmological care in the Upper Black Forest

From January 1, 2025, the ophthalmology practice Dr. Wuermeling in Titisee-Neustadt will continue to operate as a practice of the Medical Care Center (MVZ) of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. The previous practice owner, Dr. Martin Wuermeling, will remain active at the location for three years on a reduced scale to ensure a smooth handover. This will ensure access to cutting-edge university medicine close to home and a comprehensive range of ophthalmology treatments in the Upper Black Forest.

"The Medical Center - University of Freiburg has been a reliable partner for many years," says Wuermeling. "I am delighted that patients will continue to be in the best hands." From January 2025, the practice will be strengthened by Dr. Timothy Gläser, who trained at the Eye Center of the University Medical Center Freiburg. The practice will continue to be located at Titiseestraße 17 in Titisee-Neustadt.

"We already had an excellent working relationship with Dr. Wuermeling's practice several years before it became part of the Medical Care Center. By integrating the practice into the MVZ, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is contributing its medical expertise even more specifically to area-based care in order to continue to provide patients with access to cutting-edge university medicine close to home. In this way, we are maintaining the entire spectrum of ophthalmology," says Prof. Dr. Thomas Reinhard, Medical Director of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg's Department of Ophthalmology.

A particular focus continues to be on improving treatment chains across sector boundaries. "By integrating the practice into the Medical Center - University of Freiburg's MVZ, we ensure seamless cooperation between outpatient and inpatient care, which offers patients direct benefits in terms of care," says Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz, Chief Medical Officer of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. "Another goal is to establish cross-sector employment models in order to secure specialist expertise in the long term and create attractive working conditions for medical staff."
