The event offers the opportunity to ask questions and benefit from sharing experiences with other sufferers.

Participation is free of charge, registration is requested (by e-mail to: lydia.drmic@uniklinik-freiburg.de). Here you can find thedetailed program.

Epilepsy: Tailoring treatment precisely to the respective causes

"Epilepsy can have many different causes and manifestations. This is precisely why it is crucial to select the treatment option that is best suited to the needs of the respective patient from the wide range of treatment options available. The aim should be not to simply accept seizures, but to make the best possible use of the individual therapeutic scope - ideally until the patient is completely seizure-free," says Dr. Martin Hirsch, senior physician at the Epilepsy Center of the University Medical Center Freiburg.

As a maximum care center, the Epilepsy Center offers all established examination and treatment procedures for epilepsy patients of all ages, including laser-based operations. As a recognized reference center in Baden-Württemberg and as a European reference center of the EpiCare network, the doctors are also in contact with leading international centers for the diagnosis and treatment of complex and rare epilepsies. Children with epilepsy are also treated very competently in the section for epilepsy diagnostics in childhood and adolescence.

"A number of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are currently being used at the Epilepsy Center of the University Medical Center Freiburg, in particular laser-based operations and mobile EEG registrations over many months. We are pleased to be able to provide information on this as well and cordially invite you to attend," says Prof. Dr. Andreas Schulze-Bonhage, Head of the Epilepsy Center at the Department of Neurosurgery at the Freiburg University Medical Center.
