Colorful painting campaign with Peter Gaymann at the children's and youth clinic

Last Saturday, the Freiburg cartoonist created colorful pictures together with young patients and children of employees

On Saturday, 24 May 2025, the forecourt of the Children's and Youth Clinic at Freiburg University Hospital was transformed into a colorful artist's studio: Freiburg cartoonist Peter Gaymann painted creative motifs with colored pencils together with young patients and children of employees of the University Hospital. The event took place in cooperation with Europa-Park Rust. The aim was to offer the children on the ward a special experience away from everyday hospital life.

"Creative activities like this literally bring color into everyday hospital life. It's a valuable change for our young patients," says Prof. Dr. Tobias Feuchtinger, Medical Director of the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the Freiburg University Medical Center.

"For me, it is a great pleasure to create creative moments with children and thus give them a bit of normality and lightness in everyday hospital life," says cartoonist Peter Gaymann.

Art meets everyday hospital life

Back in spring, children painted a large Easter egg at Europa-Park under Gaymann's guidance. This was then placed in front of the Children's and Youth Clinic at Freiburg University Hospital. During the current campaign, the cartoonist worked with the children to create new motifs on paper, which the participants were then allowed to keep. Ed Euromaus, Europa-Park's mascot, also took part in the campaign and brought smiles to many faces.
