The Medical Center - University of Freiburg invites you to three information events with a tour of the delivery room / Room for questions and discussions

Expectant parents who have a low-risk pregnancy and wish to have a natural birth can find out more about the concept of the midwife-led delivery room at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. In three face-to-face events, experienced midwives will present the service, answer individual questions and provide direct insights into the processes on site during a tour of the birthing rooms. The events will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the library of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. Participation is free of charge, registration is not required.

"The midwife-led delivery room allows women giving birth to experience childbirth in a protected, calm atmosphere - with the safety of the hospital in the background and the continuous support of midwives in the foreground," says Prof. Dr. Ingolf Juhasz-Böss, Medical Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center of Freiburg.

Natural birth - professionally accompanied

In the midwife-led delivery room, the focus is on continuous one-to-one care by midwives and a trusting, intimate atmosphere. Gynaecologists remain available in the background and are only called in if necessary. Strong painkillers are deliberately not used in order to promote the natural course of the birth. However, these are available at all times. If they are needed, the women giving birth will continue to be cared for as usual in collaboration with the medical team. This does not require a change of room or midwife.
