Renovation of district heating shafts at the Hauptstraße/Habsburgerstraße intersection
Due to the construction work, traffic is expected to be restricted for nine weeks from August 25, 2025
From Monday, August 25, 2025, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg will be renovating two district heating shafts in the Hauptstraße / Habsburgerstraße intersection. The work is necessary to ensure the long-term operational reliability of the district heating supply on the hospital grounds. The work is expected to take around nine weeks.
In the course of the construction work, there will be restrictions on traffic heading into the city: the lane will be moved to the left into the turning lane. It will therefore not be possible to turn left into the main road during the construction period. Appropriate detour will be set up. Cycle traffic heading into the city will be diverted via Rennweg, Sautierstraße and Münchhofstraße. Pedestrians will pass the construction site.
The streetcar can pass the construction site, but will be separated from other traffic. During rush hours, an additional security guard will be deployed. Out of town, the traffic routing remains largely unchanged, only the left turn lane into Rennweg will be shortened.
