The Medical Center – University of Freiburg invites you to its Patient Information Day on “Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer” on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Patients, family members, and anyone interested can visit the Department of Radiation Oncology to learn about important aspects of treatment and support during therapy. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Robert-Koch-Str. 3 in Freiburg. Participation is free of charge; registration is not required.

“Many patients and their families have questions about how radiation therapy works, what treatment options are available, and what to expect during therapy. With this Patient Day, we aim to provide clear information, offer insights into our clinic, and create space for personal conversations,” says Prof. Dr. Anca-L. Grosu, Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg. “There have been significant advancements in radiation therapy for prostate cancer in recent years. Thanks to numerous studies, we are able to offer our patients one of the most modern radiation therapies in Europe.”

Insight into Treatment and Support

Patient Day offers a diverse program featuring lectures, guided tours of the clinic, and opportunities for personal interaction. Topics include initial treatment of prostate cancer as well as treatment for recurrence, when the cancer returns after an initial therapy (surgery or radiation therapy). Visitors will also learn how patients are cared for during radiation therapy, who they can contact with questions, and what can make daily life during treatment easier. In addition, practical demonstrations of the radiation equipment will be offered.
