40 departments recognized / high patient satisfaction

According to the latest *stern* ranking, the Medical Center – University of Freiburg is among the four best hospitals in Germany, just as it was in 2025. For patients, the ranking serves as a guide when choosing a hospital. A total of 40 departments and specialties at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg were rated as “excellent.”

This renewed placement among the top hospitals demonstrates that patients at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg receive outstanding care in many specialties. The high level of patient satisfaction is also evident in the ranking. 

Comprehensive Care Within a Strong University Structure

The Medical Center – University of Freiburg combines comprehensive university-based care with highly specialized medicine at a well-established location. It is the only hospital in the top group of the four best hospitals that did not emerge from the merger of several full-service hospitals. Instead, the facility was purposefully developed over time. 

The high level of patient satisfaction shows that not only is the quality of medical care at the Medical Center – University of Freiburg excellent, but that processes, communication, and patient care also function well. 

In South Baden, the Medical Center – University of Freiburg is the only hospital listed among the top 100 hospitals in Germany.
