Dental implants: Service and quality instead of bargains with consequences
Patient event with expert presentations and live broadcast of an implant operation
Modern implants have become an integral part of dentistry, oral and maxillofacial medicine. The Department of Oral, Maxillofacial, and Regional Plastic Surgery at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg and the Freiburg District Dental Association will therefore be holding a patient event to provide information on the latest developments in dental implants. The event will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the large lecture hall of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. Visitors can expect expert presentations, an open Q&A session and a live broadcast of an implant operation directly from the operating theater. The event is free of charge.
The speakers, physicians from the Medical Center - University of Freiburg as well as physicians in private practice, will provide information on choosing the right contact person, modern planning procedures for operations as well as implantation successes in osteoporosis and bone deficiency. Further presentations will deal with implantations during sleep and the possibilities of cost coverage by health insurance companies. Following the presentations, the speakers will be available to answer questions from the audience.
High quality can save costs later on
"We recommend checking supposedly cheap offers at home or abroad very carefully. This is because there are often much higher follow-up costs if further treatment becomes necessary due to complications," says Prof. Dr. Rainer Schmelzeisen, Medical Director of the Department of Oral, Maxillofacial, and Regional Plastic Surgery at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, who is chairing the event together with Dr. Peter Riedel from the Freiburg District Dental Association. The insertion of implants requires precise planning, extensive surgical experience and a high level of hygiene. "Simple procedures can often be carried out by a general practitioner. However, more difficult treatments or complex bone augmentations should be carried out in a clinic," says Prof. Schmelzeisen.
