Statement by the Medical Center - University of Freiburg on the resignation of the "Freiburg Sports Medicine Evaluation Commission"
The Medical Center - University of Freiburg regrets that, despite repeated concessions on the part of the hospital and the university, the evaluation commission was unable to submit a final report. Furthermore, we are more than surprised at the timing of the resignation, as the commission had, according to its own statements, been on the home stretch.
After nine years of work and expenditure of well over one million euros in public funds from the University Hospital, we should have expected a final report. Nevertheless, we could no longer expect any really new findings, as Prof. Paoli has always been very transparent with her results.
It is now important that the material collected so far is secured and can be handed over to the planned "Research Center for Sports Medicine" at the University of Freiburg and the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. This will hopefully complete what the commission has failed to do.
