The University Center for Naturopathy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is offering patients with depression the opportunity to take part in a study comparing the effectiveness of overheating baths with the effects of exercise therapy.
Depression is a widespread disease that affects almost five million people in Germany every year. In addition to psychotherapy and medication, physical exercise can also improve symptoms. Overheating baths are used in naturopathy with good results against depression and will be investigated in more detail in the study led by Prof. Dr. Roman Huber from the Center for Naturopathy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
Men and women between the ages of 18 and 65 with moderate depression are eligible for the study. Allocation to the treatments (exercise therapy or overheating baths) is random. Two treatments per week are planned over a period of eight weeks (16 treatments in total).
