Advent joy in the hospital bed

At the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, cookies are distributed to patients during the Advent and Christmas season

Many people associate the Advent season with the smell of cookies, fir trees, cinnamon and cloves. But unfortunately, those who are in hospital are usually unable to enjoy the festive season. To sweeten the inpatient stay of patients at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg a little, they are given a special surprise in the form of a delicious Weckmann. From Monday to Friday this week, a total of ten helpers will be visiting more than 100 wards on the central campus on Hugstetter Straße and in the outlying clinics on Hauptstraße. They will be handing out a total of 4,000 little baked yeast men with raisin eyes. But it's not just the patients who get a treat, all the nurses and physicians on duty in the wards also receive a Weckmann. Patients young and old are delighted - and the fragrant cookies are a welcome change from everyday hospital life.
