(XX.XX.2025) The current ranking "World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2026", published by the US magazine Newsweek and the portal Statista, lists several disciplines of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg among the best hospitals in Germany and the world. Neurology is particularly outstanding with 3rd place in the national comparison and 30th place worldwide.

The results demonstrate the consistently high quality of care for patients in specialized fields at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. The ranking was published in September 2025. The repeated placement in the international top group shows that clinical excellence is successfully combined with innovative research and patient proximity.

Strong results in many specialist areas

In addition to neurology, other departments at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg performed particularly well in an international comparison: neurosurgery was ranked 5th in Germany and 61st worldwide. Gynecology (6 / 49), oncology (9 / 85), pneumology (8 / 148) and pediatrics (14 / 160) also achieved top rankings.

In cardiac medicine, both cardiology (19 / 216) and cardiac surgery (9 / 79) are among the best clinics worldwide. The University Heart Center Freiburg Bad Krozingen (UHZ) is one of the largest heart centers in Europe and part of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. It combines state-of-the-art cardiology, cardiac surgery and vascular care under one roof. Patients benefit from the close integration of cutting-edge medicine, interdisciplinary collaboration and university research. Around 50,000 inpatients and outpatients are treated at the UHZ every year. It has close academic ties with the Faculty of Medicine - University of Freiburg - with consistently high patient satisfaction. According to the Bertelsmann Foundation's White List and the largest patient and consumer organizations, 92 percent of patients were satisfied with the quality of treatment at the University of Freiburg Heart Center Bad Krozingen in 2021.

The placements in the "World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2026" ranking are based on an international survey of medical experts, quality indicators and key figures on patient satisfaction.
