First subject-specific groups in the "Teacher coaching groups based on the Freiburg model"
Prevention program helps to maintain health in everyday school life / Register now free of charge
School teachers are still one of the occupational groups that are particularly exposed to health risks. Among the few scientifically evaluated and proven effective health protection measures for this occupational group are the "Teacher Coaching Groups according to the Freiburg Model" developed at the University Medical Center Freiburg. For eight years, the Teacher Health Working Group of the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the University Medical Center Freiburg has been organizing the tried and tested teacher coaching groups. As a proven health-promoting measure, they are part of the long-standing occupational health and safety program of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs and are offered free of charge to all public school teachers.
Topic-specific groups for the first time
For the 2019/20 school year, ten additional topic-specific groups will be offered, which are aimed at teachers from special education and counseling centers (SBBZ) as well as teachers who teach refugee and migrant children in integration classes, for example. In recent years, it has become apparent that the situation of these two groups of participants has become more difficult and that they sometimes have specific concerns. In particular, there is a need for these teachers to discuss the difficulties and possibilities of building relationships with their particular pupils and parents.
Pilot groups as a basis
The topic-specific groups also work under the guidance of trained moderators according to the manual of the Freiburg model, the core of which is a special type of case review, known as Balint work. In the theoretical part of the topic-specific groups, the focal points are adapted and some additional aspects are included. The basis for the specific adaptations is the evaluation of two pilot groups that have already been carried out.
