Emotional moments at the New Year's reception
Image campaign #Jedermomentzählt of the University Medical Center Freiburg reaches more than 250,000 viewers online, as a supporting film in the cinema and directly on site

At the Freiburg University Medical Center's New Year's reception, the #Jedermomentzählt image campaign once again unleashed its emotional power - so much so that even seasoned members of the audience had tears in their eyes. The campaign impressively shows why research and cutting-edge medicine are indispensable: In moving short films, four (former) patients give personal insights into their lives and how they deal with serious illness. The films already reached a wide audience during the Christmas period: more than 35,000 people saw a short compilation of the films in cinemas in and around Freiburg. On YouTube, the videos were viewed over 200,000 times and liked well over 1,000 times.
"We wanted to show that medicine is about much more than facts and figures - it's about people, their fates and every single moment that makes up life. We are very grateful to Lynn, Christian, Marianna and Stefan for opening up for the films," says Benjamin Waschow, Head of Corporate Communications at the University Medical Center Freiburg. "We deliberately avoided the usual image images of the hospital and experts. We wanted the films to focus exclusively on the patients."
The (former) patients of the Freiburg University Medical Center were selected by Corporate Communications and prepared for the shoot. A dedicated camera team got to know the protagonists in detail and accompanied them for a day at the SC stadium, in the Black Forest, in the field, on the streetcar or at home. They were able to capture authentic everyday moments and touching memories of the often life-threatening illnesses.
Extended insights on the campaign website
The official websitewww.uniklinik-freiburg.de/jedermomentzaehlt supplements the film campaign with further information and exclusive insights into the story behind #Jedermomentzählt.
Visitors can find out more about the moving stories of the four protagonists:
- Lynn received a new heart at the age of three and is now a lively twelve-year-old.
- Marianna had to completely reorient herself after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
- Christian lives with two cochlear implants and is fulfilling his dream of being a streetcar driver.
- Stefan fought his way back into his profession after a serious car accident, also as a part-time farmer.
Emotional stories that connect
The protagonists also experience the great response to the campaign at first hand:
"I've been approached by friends, work colleagues and passers-by about the video and have received a lot of encouragement. It gives me the strength to do even more for people who are in a similar situation to mine."
- Christian
"If I can encourage just one person, then the film was worth it."
- Marianna
"The movie is incredibly beautiful. Many of my family and friends who saw it had 'wee-wees' in their eyes."
- Lynn's mother
The University Hospital's Corporate Communications department also received a lot of feedback - many people shared their own experiences or expressed their appreciation for the campaign.
