On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 3 p.m., the Medical Center - University of Freiburg invites you to the presentation of the book Früh genug! Yes! On Living with Prostate Cancer in the lecture hall of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Hugstetter Str. 55 Freiburg). Co-editor is Prof. Dr. Christian Gratzke, Medical Director of the Department of Urology at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. The book is aimed at men with prostate cancer and their relatives. It combines personal testimonials with expert information and provides practical guidance on diagnosis, treatment and living with the disease. Participation in the book presentation is free of charge, registration is not required.
In addition to the presentation of key content, there will be a moderated panel discussion. Fritz Keller, former president of SC Freiburg, who has been involved in charitable projects in the region for many years, will take part. Peter Fischer, former president of Eintracht Frankfurt, Sascha Purket, goalkeeping coach of SV Elversberg, and the book's publisher Peter Feierabend will also take part in the panel discussion and talk openly about their experiences with prostate cancer.
"Our motivation was to create a book that not only informs, but also empowers - and above all encourages those affected and their relatives and makes it easier to come to terms with the disease," says Gratzke.
A book that empowers patients - and opens up spaces for discussion
At the heart of the book are so-called "patient journeys" - personal stories from men who talk about their diagnosis, their fears, decisions and coping with the disease. These stories not only offer closeness and authenticity, but also important insights into the challenges associated with prostate cancer: from the difficult treatment decision to the side effects and the return to everyday life. The testimonials will be supplemented by contributions from medical specialists who will explain key medical topics in a generally understandable way.
