Start into the professional future

Around 440 new trainees, dual students and participants in voluntary services have started at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg

On Wednesday, October 1, 295 out of a total of 440 young people started their professional future at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. 145 had already been welcomed to the Medical Center - University of Freiburg at the beginning of September. They are spread across a total of over 30 different professions - in the medical field as well as in technical, manual and administrative professions. Many have also chosen the University Medical Center for their voluntary social year.

"We warmly welcome our new trainees in the nursing, therapeutic and medical-technical professions at the Freiburg and Bad Krozingen sites. We are delighted to be able to accompany so many committed and motivated people on their path into the healthcare sector. Our goal is to provide them with the necessary knowledge and confidence to cope well in everyday clinical practice and to actively help shape high-quality patient care," says Franz-Josef Overhoff, Head of the Academy for Medical Professions at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.

A total of 260 new trainees are starting their training in the healthcare professions. Of these, 100 have opted for a career in nursing care. Other areas of training include the medical-technical fields of surgery, anesthesia, radiology and laboratory. The academy also trains physiotherapists. The training is closely interlinked with practice, which quickly provides trainees with in-depth knowledge.

Diverse range of training also in a clinical environment

Around 50 young professionals are starting their training at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg this year in areas such as technology, logistics, service, IT and administration. "These professions make a significant contribution to the functioning of the hospital, even if they are not directly involved in patient care," says Elke Provazi, Head of Staff Unit Training at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. "Our new trainees bring a wide range of skills with them and have the opportunity to take on responsibility in different areas."

Voluntary service at the hospital is also in demand: 130 participants are now involved in areas such as patient care, material transport and the blood donation center. "This commitment is very valuable for us and a great opportunity for the volunteers to gain an insight into working in a hospital," says Provazi.

Learning and working at the largest training company in the region

As the largest employer and training company in the South Baden region with a total of more than 1,200 trainees, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg offers a wide range of career opportunities in 30 training professions and degree courses. The Academy for Medical Professions at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg offers a first-class training environment for prospective healthcare professionals and has established itself as one of the largest educational institutions in the healthcare sector in Germany.
