Patient advocate: mediator in difficult situations

Sometimes difficult situations arise during or after a hospital stay that cannot be resolved through direct contact between patients and the clinics providing treatment.

In such cases, the patient advocate can be called in. She assumes the role of a neutral mediator between the treating clinics and the patients.

Sabine Rohde takes on this role at the University Medical Center Freiburg.

Here she introduces herself and her work in more detail:

My name is Sabine Rohde.

As a patient advocate, I am here for you...

...to listen to you.

...if you are unclear about your rights as a patient.

...to mediate in difficult situations during or after your stay at the hospital.

...to listen to your wishes and suggestions for improvement.

...if you would like to pass on praise and recognition.

If you have any questions or problems, it is important that you first talk to the ward manager or a senior doctor in the department treating you.

If you would like to consult me, you can decide for yourself whether you only want a confidential discussion or whether you would like me to deal with your concerns. All information that you entrust to me is, of course, subject to confidentiality.

You are welcome to send me your concerns by e-mail first.

If you are unable to contact me due to your illness, your relatives or a person you trust can contact me.

I would be happy to help you and contribute to finding a satisfactory solution to your concerns.

You can reach me by e-mail at patienten-fuersprecher@uniklinik-freiburg.de or by telephone on 0152 05396841 (with answering machine).
