Andrea Mihaljevic and Stefan Hösl, >play<

November 3 to December 12, 2008

The large-format work entitled Dia hangs in the stairwell to the attic floor and is programmatic for the exhibition in its interplay with the banister and the architecture.

Constructivism meets seemingly floating and transparently superimposed balloon shapes. Harmonia est discordia concors: harmony is created by combining opposites.

View of the work o.T. in the hallway. The 150x300 cm oil painting was created in 2000. It corresponds with the tondo above and the painting DC 9 Remix on the wall to the left.

Circles, ellipses, whether picture format or picture object, find their continuation in the respective preceding or following painting. The pictorial dynamics create a field of tension in the exhibition area.

Plank walls or type-setting boxes, objects with uniform structures, were and are Andrea Mihaljevic's thematic variants.

The view of the façade from 1999 transforms the space: the picture appears to become the architectural motif of the wall: the picture is the architecture!

The House of Cards series in the showcases in the entrance hall provides the prelude to the exhibition on the attic floor: architecture and painting are interchangeable but mutually dependent: just as the painterly can shape the architecture, it is the architectural that helps the picture to compose.
