Sustainability as a strategy
In its 2025 sustainability strategy, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg has set itself the following goal:
Vision:
Our University Hospital is a leading center for excellent medicine, research and teaching that takes responsibility for the health of people and the environment. We strive for a sustainable future in which innovative medical care, ecological responsibility and social justice are harmoniously combined.
By using resource-saving technologies, promoting climate-friendly processes and training future generations of specialists, we set standards for environmentally conscious healthcare.
Together with our partners and employees, we want to be pioneers in the implementation of climate-neutral solutions in healthcare and achieve a positive, sustainable impact on our society.
Mission:
Our mission as a university hospital is to promote people's health while preserving the natural foundations of life for future generations.
Social responsibility, economic sustainability, environmental compatibility, innovation and research as well as transparency and commitment form the central building blocks of the sustainability strategy of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
Particular attention is being paid to three focus topics that will be pursued more intensively until 2030:
