Institut für Evidenz in der Medizin

The Institute for Evidence in Medicine (for Cochrane Germany Foundation) (IfEM for short) of the Faculty of Medicine - University of Freiburg was founded on 01.01.2018 and is part of the Center for Data-Driven Medicine. Together with the Cochrane Germany Foundation (established in October 2017), IfEM continues the work and activities of the former German Cochrane Center, the German representative office of the international Cochrane Collaboration.

The Institute focuses on the following areas, among others

• Preparation of evidence syntheses
  (systematic reviews, scoping reviews, network meta-analyses, etc.)
• Methodological research on evidence syntheses
• Critical evaluation and interpretation of evidence (GRADE methodology)
• Research on the quality of scientific research

IfEM also encompasses the Freiburg GRADE Center and is an academic cooperation partner of the Cochrane Germany Foundation.

Funding is provided on a pro rata basis by the University Medical Center and the Faculty of Medicine.
