Gastroenterological and hepatological intensive care medicine in Interdisciplinary Medical Intensive Care (IMIT)
Critically ill patients with gastroenterological and hepatological conditions are treated in the Interdisciplinary Medical Intensive Care (IMIT) as a central facility of the University Hospital under the direction of Prof. Dr. Tobias Wengenmayer.
An interdisciplinary treatment team coordinated by intensive care physicians and gastroenterologists takes care of the patients' treatment. The focus of gastroenterology and hepatology intensive care is on the following areas
- Diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding with 24/7 availability of emergency endoscopies and the option of early elective TIPS facilities
- Acute pancreatitis and its complications
- Severe sepsis and septic shock
- Acute liver failure
- Complications of liver cirrhosis and acute-on-chronic liver failure
- Intoxications
