Thanks to a new street name, the Clinic for Tumor Biology and the Clinic for Oncological Rehabilitation are now easier to find

The location remains the same, the address is different: The Tumor Biology Clinic, which is part of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, and the Clinic for Oncological Rehabilitation - UKF Reha gGmbH have a new address. From now on, patients, relatives and visitors can reach the facilities in the newly named Löhrstraße in Freiburg. Previously, the small cul-de-sac that leads directly to the Tumor Biology Clinic had no name. It was difficult for patients to find because they had to drive via Lehener Straße or Breisacher Straße. Together, the city of Freiburg and the Medical Center - University of Freiburg named the street after Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Georg Wilhelm Löhr as the namesake of the street.

Georg Wilhelm Löhr was Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Freiburg from 1968 and Medical Director of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg from 1986 to 1989. He died on June 23, 1989, shortly before reaching the age of 69. Together with H. D. Waller, Prof. Löhr made discoveries in the field of blood diseases and opened up a new field of haematology. Löhr was a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and the German Academy of Sciences "Leopoldina". He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Innsbruck.
