Running for a good cause
Running group "Laufend Gutes tun" donates 1,630 euros to "Tigerherz... wenn Eltern Krebs haben", an initiative of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg
Running for a good cause: at the end of October, Michael and Carmen Albrecht and Stefanie Jonack from the running group "Laufend Gutes tun" handed over a cheque for 1,630 euros to "Tigerherz... wenn Eltern Krebs haben", a service offered by the Psychosocial Cancer Counselling Service at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg - CCCF of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
Last summer, Michael Albrecht organized a 24-hour charity run in which 22 runners from his circle of friends and relatives took part. Stefanie Jonack (on the left in the photo) alone ran 103.5 kilometers. Michael Albrecht had already undertaken a four-week walk from Flensburg to Freiburg as a charity run in 2018. The group is sponsored by Albrecht's employer Scherer Südbaden and numerous other companies.
The "Laufend Gutes tun" group
The "Laufend Gutes tun" group has been in existence since 2015. Initially, the donations went to the "Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder e.V.". When an employee at Scherer Südbaden died of cancer in 2017 and "Tigerherz ... wenn Eltern Krebs haben" provided the family with a great deal of support during this time, half of the sponsorship money from the charity runs was donated to the psychosocial cancer counseling service.
The Scherer company is very supportive of Michael Albrecht's commitment: after his charity walk of around 1,200 kilometers, he received a week's special leave and a stay in a wellness hotel.
The "Tigerheart ... when parents have cancer" offer
"Tigerheart ... when parents have cancer" is aimed at families in which one parent has cancer. The aim is to help the whole family, to advise parents on how to deal with their children and to support the children in their needs and concerns. Tigerherz works individually or in groups with the children and young people, often creatively with different materials or through experiential education. Space is provided for feelings, where fears can be addressed, but there is also room for fun and laughter. The Tigerherz counseling service is aimed at parents, grandparents, professionals and interested people. All services are free of charge and are financed exclusively by donations.
