Opening of the vaccination center for the region at Messe Freiburg
Booster vaccinations are possible from November 22 / Booking system now available
Next Monday, November 22, the Freiburg vaccination center will open its doors to all interested citizens of the region. The Medical Center - University of Freiburg and the City of Freiburg, together with the FWTM, are thus responding to the greatly increased demand for vaccinations and thus countering the current fourth corona wave. The acute demand for the so-called booster vaccination cannot currently be met by the practices in the region alone, as they are already working to capacity due to their actual care mandate.
"It was very important for us to be able to offer our citizens a vaccination service again within a very short space of time. The proven team at FWTM and the Medical Center - University of Freiburg has once again found a quick and efficient solution. This means that we will be able to offer the first vaccinations at Messe Freiburg as early as next Monday," confirmed Martin Horn, Lord Mayor of the City of Freiburg.
The vaccination center will be a smaller version of the former Central Vaccination Center and, due to its location and the coordinating team, will use the tried and tested infrastructure of Messe Freiburg and the experience of all those involved to date. With up to 500 to 600 vaccinations per day, around 20,000 vaccinations will be able to take place in the newly created vaccination center by the end of the year. However, due to the limited IT infrastructure currently available, the number of vaccinations on offer will be reduced at the beginning. Talks are currently underway with the state government to enable additional capacity.
At the moment, only third or booster vaccinations are being carried out. As soon as capacities for first or second vaccinations are available, this will be communicated.

The third/booster vaccinations are carried out in accordance with the current STIKO recommendations and taking into account the requirements of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The digital vaccination card for the vaccination is available for all vaccinated persons upon presentation of the vaccination card at any pharmacy of your choice.
The vaccination center is supervised and coordinated by the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, which also provides medical care and medical staff.
