A study by the Medical Center - University of Freiburg is investigating the stress and support needs of relatives of people with cancer / Further study participants wanted

Cancer is not only a drastic life event for those affected, but also for their relatives and is associated with stress. As part of a research project, the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg - CCCF of the Medical Center of University of Freiburg, in cooperation with the Haus der Krebs-Selbsthilfe - Bundesverband e.V., would like to investigate the specific burdens of relatives of people with cancer. The aim is to develop needs-based support services for relatives. The project team led by Prof. Dr. Joachim Weis, holder of the endowed professorship for self-help research, is working closely with federal self-help associations and representatives of regional self-help groups. The study is funded by German Cancer Aid.

Parents of adults with cancer wanted

In the study, relatives are asked what stresses they experience, what new tasks they take on, how the unfamiliar life situation affects their relationship with the patient and other people and what support they need or would like. Following the survey of interviews with partners and adult children of cancer patients, parents of adults with cancer are currently still being sought for an interview. This will take place online or by telephone and will last around 30 to 45 minutes.
