The University Hospital has joined a network of more than 4,800 organizations and companies that want to promote a culture of diversity

The Medical Center - University of Freiburg has signed the Diversity Charter. The hospital is thus committed to creating an environment for employees and patients that is free from discrimination and exclusion. Everyone involved should be valued, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation and identity, disability, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or ideology.

"Diversity and variety are a living reality at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg," says Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz, Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. "By signing the Diversity Charter, we are showing that we continue to consistently promote and demand equality for all people. Because accepting different potentials and perspectives positively creates advantages for us all." Angelika Zimmer, Equal Opportunities Officer at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, adds: "The signing is not only a signal to the outside world, but also a mandate to all employees to promote non-discriminatory treatment in their areas."

Equal opportunities and diversity round table

Diversity is part and parcel of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg: around 15,000 employees from a total of 106 nations work at the hospital, who are also diverse in terms of age, disabilities, ideology, working models and many other aspects. At the request of the Board of Directors, the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Round Table was set up in spring 2022 to create the most non-discriminatory working environment and patient care possible. The aim is to better network and promote the various initiatives and stakeholders at the hospital who are already committed to diversity. Together, the need for change is discussed and impulses for practice are developed and implemented.
