9th Freiburg Patient and Relatives Forum
Patient and family forum on November 26, 2022 on leukemia, lymphoma and lung and colorectal cancer / Current developments, findings and therapies / Space for individual questions and discussions
At the 9th Patient and Relatives Forum, experts from the Medical Center - University of Freiburg and specialists from the region will once again provide information on the progression, diagnosis and treatment options for various leukemias, lymphomas, lung and colon tumors in easy-to-understand language.
On Saturday, November 26, 2022
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
at the Max Weber School, Fehrenbachallee 14, Freiburg,
experts from the fields of haematology, oncology, general, visceral and thoracic surgery as well as radiotherapy will be on hand to answer questions and give presentations.
Admission to the event is free, donations are requested. Registration is not necessary, but makes planning easier. FFP2 masks are compulsory during the lectures.
Schedule of the event
The information event will be opened at 9 a.m. by Prof. Dr. Monika Engelhardt, Scientific Director of the Forum and Senior Physician at the Department of Medicine I of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg. After a welcoming address by Prof. Dr. Dr. Rainer Schmelzeisen, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, Prof. Dr. Justus Duyster, Medical Director of the Department of Medicine I at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, will speak on the topic of "New Perspectives in Tumor Therapy".
From 10.45 a.m., two to five recognized experts will explain the latest findings, treatment options and case studies for lymphomas, leukaemias, lung and colon tumors in disease-specific discussion forums.
From 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., innovative therapy concepts, immunotherapies and supportive measures offered by the UKF/CCCF will be presented in six plenary lectures. They will also explain how diet and exercise can alleviate side effects of chemotherapy such as chronic fatigue, how care experts offer support and what support is available to help with the fear of disease progression.
Between the individual program items and during a joint lunch and coffee break, interested parties can get in touch with all speakers, for example from the Department of Palliative Care, Brückenpflege and the Tumor Center. The Freiburg Stem Cell File of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg as well as numerous self-help groups and Rotarians will also be present with an information stand. A wind ensemble, a sports activity break, a picture auction and much more will ensure a varied lunch break.
The Patient and Relatives Forum will be organized by physicians from the Department of Medicine I (Specialties: Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation), the Department of General and Visceral Surgery, the Department of Thoracic Surgery, the Department of Radiation Oncology and interdisciplinary experts from the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg - CCCF at the Medical Center of Freiburg in close cooperation with internal hematologists and oncologists from the surrounding area.
