Supply restricted due to renewed strike
Another strike at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg from July 1 to 3, 2024 / Significant impact on care / Acute and emergency care guaranteed
For Monday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the trade union ver.di has once again called on non-medical staff at university hospitals in Baden-Württemberg to take part in all-day warning strikes. The Medical Center - University of Freiburg is also affected. In order to ensure patient care, the Medical Center - University of Freiburg has concluded an emergency service agreement with the union. Inpatient care at weekend level is guaranteed. Non-urgent planned operations and outpatient appointments must be postponed. Those affected will be informed by the specialist departments.
Urgent medical treatment and operations, intensive care, obstetrics and, for the most part, oncology are fully guaranteed. The blood donation center is open as usual.
During the strike period, there may be longer waiting times at the hospital. The emergency room is open. However, emergency outpatients should use other emergency departments during the strike if possible.
"We respect the right to strike and are trying to enable all employees to take part in the strike. However, the strike must not put patients at risk. This multi-day strike is at the limit of what is reasonable," says Prof. Dr. Frederik Wenz, Chief Medical Officer of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.
