Early music rethought: Ensemble Tammurriata

On Monday, August 26, the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg invites you to a musical journey through the traditional music of Spain and Latin America


The Ensemble Tammurriata will present traditional music from Spain and Latin America on Monday, August 26 at 7 pm . The event will take place in the Garden Hall in the West Wing of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg, Hauptstraße 5 in Freiburg. Admission to the concert is free. Registration is not required.

"Music is a powerful tool for promoting understanding and empathy. We want to use this to break down prejudices against mental illness and to create an open and supportive atmosphere in our clinic," says Prof. Dr. Dr. Katharina Domschke, Medical Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical Center - University of Freiburg.

Music that moves and touches

The Ensemble Tammurriata is dedicated to performing early music from Spain and Latin America using historical instruments from the 16th to 18th centuries. The ensemble, consisting of Alessandra Riudalbas (recorder), Daniela Zib (soprano), David Neuhaus (baroque cello), Iván García (baroque guitar) and David Auli Morales (percussion instruments), is characterized by the different cultural backgrounds that the ensemble uses for the artistic exploration of the music. The ensemble has been touring Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and Spain since 2018, delighting audiences with thrilling concert experiences.
